Golf, you have different kinds of clubs. A type of club you use is called a wood, and I will describe a little for you all new golfers out there.
Wood is used to hit the ball long distances. Golfers use woods to hit the ball out of tees where they tee off. Wood has a large head hollow, and 150-175 metres from the hole is usually golfers to gauge distance when using a wood.
1-Wood club is called the driver, depending on what you prefer and there the loft lowest of all clubs. What is the loft? It is a term used to describe the club face angle, and it controls the trajectory of the balls, affecting its distance. Loft a driver is nowhere to seven degrees up to twelve degrees. Professional golfers generally prefer the drivers with lower lofts, and this requires great skill to use them, for beginners.
These days, many of pro golfers have evolved into drivers with top chefs and higher lofts (ten and eleven degrees). They believe that higher - launch with low spin - can give them more drives off the coast of the tee.
Golfers carry 3 and 5 woods with them as well.
The joke in all of this is that "wood" aren't yet wood! How nuts is that? Now, they are made of metal. Why? Well, mainly the metallic composition allows golfers precisely molded metal for their clubs - something that is very difficult to do with woods, especially considering the desire for a low centre of gravity for your club.
I hope, that serves as a good introduction to woods for some of you new fans of golf y!
